About Joe Shalita

Hi, I’m Joe Shalita.

I’ve been making and teaching oboe reeds for decades — and like many of you, I’ve spent countless hours at the reed desk figuring out how to make something that actually works, consistently.

I’ve had the privilege of playing in the State of Mexico Symphony Orchestra for over 35 years, serving as Principal Oboe for 20 of those years. I’ve also been a proud member of the Mexico City Woodwind Quintet for more than 30 years, performing chamber music across Mexico and beyond. And for over three decades, I’ve been teaching oboe and chamber music to students ranging from beginners to professionals.
